Hide and No Seek
My friend Charlie Gooodson sent me this link yesterday on how to keep people from finding your church.
Another guy named Drew Goodmanson (whom I don’t know, but whose blog I frequent) posted the same link plus this one on avoiding community.
They are short but sharp.
(And high fives to ChurchRedone and askingY!)
Ouch! That first article really stings! I recognized some (many) of those points…so what are we going to do about it?

Well, let me return the volley…what are WE going to do about it?

Ok, what are WE going to do about it? Collectively. As a body. This does not fall on the pastor to fix alone.
I like the ideas in the follow-up article “10 Ways to Draw Me To Your Church”. I see several things there I could be doing personally which simply involve the messy work of getting involved in people’s lives. I think I need to do a better job of this with my church-members, not just new folks who might come along. It truly requires a change in lifestyle and mindset to become a welcoming person who loves people and pursues them as Christ pursued me. I pray He will change me.

Consider yourself empowered to do what you have said! (You are also free to encourage others to do the same. I’ll help spread the word.)
